Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD leader and Lok Sabha MP from Aska seat Ladu Kishore Swain passed away late last night while undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
Sources have informed that the BJD MP was suffering from kidney-related ailment and was admitted to a private hospital here where he breathed his last. The MP's family source said his mortal remains will be consigned to flames at his ancestral village at Pathara in Ganjam district today.
President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condoled the demise of Mr.Swain. Mr.Patnaik described late Ladu Kishoire Swain as an able parliamentarian who had also served as a member of the state Assembly and conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
The ongoing budget session of the Odisha Assembly also condoled the death of Mr. Swain. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik moved the obituary reference and the house observed one minute silence in memory of the departed soul.
Born on July 8, 1947, Mr. Swain was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly in 2004 from the Kabisuryanagar Assembly seat. He was also elected to the Lok Sabha from Aska constituency in 2014.
