India is battling the more deadly and infectious second wave of coronavirus. The health system of the country has collapsed due to a shortage of beds, vaccines and oxygen supply, and lack
of medical treatments. Meanwhile, political warfare between the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party and the opposition party Congress seems endless.
Amid pandemic destructing people’s lives, both parties are engaged in the war of words and politicizing the factor behind the outbreak of coronavirus infection in the country. Congress is continuously criticizing Modi’s government over its Covid 19 handling strategy. Whereas, BJP is accusing Congress of being politically selfish during these unprecedented times.
Intensifying this political battle, BJP has shared an alleged Congress toolkit and balmed that the opposition party is trying to smear Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India. Further accusing the opposition of selfishness, BJP said that Congress is trying to humiliate and discredit India all over the world.
Meanwhile, BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra has claimed that the document was drafted by Saumya Varma.
Who is Saumya Verma
According to Saumya Varma’s LinkedIn profile, she is a policy and political research consultant working with the office of Rajeev Gowda, Chairman of All India Congress Committee since August 2017.
On Wednesday Sambit Patra said that the domain expert has identified Saumya's name as the author of the document. He
shared a few pictures in his tweet and said, “Congress wanted to know who is the writer of this toolkit. Check now the property of this paper. Author- Saumya Varma. Who is Saumya Varma? The evidence itself is speaking. Will Rahul and Sonia answer now?”

What is Congress Toolkit
The document shared by the name of Congress Toolkit says, “Use the phrases Indian Strain instead of new mutant and social media volunteers can call it Modi strain.” According to the screenshots shared by BJP, the document further asks volunteers to raise questions about PM Cares Fund and file RTI on the funds. The document also suggests to question about Kumbh Mela and use the term ‘super-spreader' for it.
Refuting these allegations, Rajeev Gowda has tweeted, “Patra is showing metadata/author of a real document and attributing it to a FAKE.”
In reply to BJP’s allegation, Congress has lodged an FIR against JP Nadda and Sambit Patra for forgery.
