With the last day of filing nominations approaching, the BJP on late Tuesday night released a list of 95 candidates who will fight the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation Elections 2024. To be precise, December 9 was the first day for filling of nominations (between 11 am to 3 pm) in the offices of the concerned returning officers and December 12 will be the last date for filing nominations (up to 3 pm). As a result, political parties of Punjab including the BJP have dropped their list of candidates who will fight the polls.
For the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation Elections 2024, the BJP has bet on some new faces along with old faces. The BJP has fielded the wife of a former IAS Officer. To be precise, retired IAS officer Sucha Ram Ladhar's wife, Saroj, will fight the Ludhiana MC Elections from ward number 87.
Sucha Ram Ladhar is a Punjab cadre officer from the 1991 batch. He has previously served the state in various capacities, including as the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Muktsar, and Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Mansa, Bathinda, Ferozepur, and Sangrur districts. The retired IAS officer has also served as Commissioner of Jalandhar and Patiala Divisions and later in Revenue, Home, Transport, Cooperative, Rural and Panchayat and Planning Departments in Chandigarh.
BJP candidates for Ludhiana MC Election 2024
Talking about the saffron party's other candidates, BJP has once again expressed confidence in Manju Agarwal from ward number 81 and has fielded her in the election. Similarly, Sunil Moudgil, who was the district vice president of the party, has been given a ticket this time too.
Along with this, Dolly Gosain, a relative of former minister late Satpal Gosain, has been given a ticket from ward number 19. Gurbakhsh Singh Billa has been given a ticket for the third time from ward number 12. Vipin Vinayak Pallavi, who left Congress and joined BJP, has been given ticket from ward 3. Rajesh Mishra from ward 34 and Gurmeet Kaur Neetu, wife of former councillor Gurdeep Neetu, from ward 75 have been given ticket.
Elections for the five municipal corporations, 44 municipal councils, and various nagar panchayats will take place on December 21.
