Despite reiterating to neglect grouping by PM Modi in his speech, his own party member Raja Singh violated lockdown norms. BJP MLA Raja Singh and his supporters were seen violating the social distancing norms while responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal to light candles for 9 minutes at 9 pm on Sunday. Referring to coronavirus as 'China virus', the MLA and his supporters have seen lighting torches and gathering to observe the moment.
In effect, the lone MLA from the state also violated the curfew which remains imposed in Telangana in light of novel coronavirus. Raja's supporters also chanted "Chinese virus go back", agencies reported.
Singh's act may also be viewed on the backdrop that on March 22, when PM Modi had asked people to pay tribute to health workers, many had gathered on streets and taken out processions, killing the very purpose of maintaining social distancing while combating novel coronavirus.
