Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Punjab State President Sunil Jakhar has asked the Chief Election Commissioner to extend the voting time in the state. Sunil Jakhar wrote a letter to the Election Commission regarding this matter.
Sunil Jakhar appealed the Election Commission to increase the voting time from 6.00 am to 7.00 pm, so that more and more people can cast their vote.
In the letter, Jakhar wrote that the final phase of voting for the Lok Sabha elections in Punjab will be held on June 1. At present, there is severe heat in the state. The heat wave has made it difficult for people to come out of their homes. Similar conditions will prevail throughout the month of June. In such a situation, it will be quite challenging for people to cast their vote in the afternoon. It can be harmful for the elderly to stand in lines in such heat. Therefore, the voting time should be extended, he had said.
