Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently attended a Summit on a news channel and talked about the upcoming elections in Punjab in 2027. The senior BJP leader Amit Shah recently attended the News18 Rising Bharat Summit and addressed almost every burning issue including WAQF law, delimitation, language controversy, etc. However, Union Home Minister Amit Shah raised many eyebrows with his answers when he was asked about the 2027 Punjab Election and whether the BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will join hands again as farmers' protest is not ongoing now. Below is what Amit Shah said on Punjab-
Amit Shah on the SAD-BJP alliance during Punjab Election 2027
Will BJP contest elections with Akali Dal? On this question, HM Amit Shah laughingly replied, "Brahma ji has created the universe, but even Brahma ji will not be able to assess the next elections in Punjab. The public will take a good decision and a majority government will be formed." Notably, the Union Minister did not directly mention about BJP-SAD alliance. Neither did Shah deny the BJP-SAD alliance, nor did he nod to it.
Notably, during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, initially, there was talk that BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) could contest the elections together again. But, at the last moment, both decided to contest separately. In this election, Shiromani Akali Dal was able to win only the sole seat of Bathinda, which was won by Harsimrat Kaur Badal.
Amit Shah on Khalistan outfits rise in Punjab
Union Home Minister further said that it is the primary responsibility of the Punjab government to stop it (Pro Khalistan outfits). However, it is also the responsibility of the central government that if any person talks about breaking the country in any name, it will not be tolerated at all. He said, "We will deal with such people strictly, and the Bharatiya Janata Party government is fully committed to this."
