PM Modi unveiled the BJP’s Sankalp Patra on Sunday, which is Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) elections manifesto. It included several promises termed as Modi ki Guarantees for the citizens of India. In BJP’s Election manifesto, PM Modi said that BJP promises 100% implementation of APAAR:’One Nation, One Student ID’. it was included as a part of Modi ki Guarantee for the youth of India. BUt the question arises, what is it and how does it help the youth? Here’s is what we know about APAAR:
On implementing One Nation, One Student ID, BJP in its election manifesto - 'Sankalp Patra'; says, "We will achieve 100% implementation of 'One Nation, One Student ID’ through the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) to store academic qualifications, credit scores and certificates, among others for students from pre-primary to higher education."
What is APAAR?
APAAR, an acronym for Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry, is a specialised identification system designed for all students in India, beginning from an early age. It is introduced in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) of 2020 and the National Credit and Qualifications Framework (NCrF).
Essentially it allows for a streamlined academic experience for the students, where each student will be assigned a unique 12-digit ID. It will allow them to access their academic records and qualifications, all stored on a single platform.
It was emphasised as not only a vital tool for tracking the educational progress of over 260 million students in India but also as a globally recognized document for students. It is pertinent to note that registration for APAAR is voluntary and not mandatory.
Modi ki Guarantee for Young Citizens:
In the manifesto, as part of guarantee for the youth, PM Modi said that BJP promises an integrated education framework under the NEP, to ensure young citizens have the opportunity to earn while they learn. We guarantee high-quality education, world-class sports facilities, employment and entrepreneurial opportunities to all young citizens through the NEP and other programmes.
