Farmers on Monday announced to end their ‘rail-roko’ protest at the Shambhu border. While all the railway tracks have been cleared, roads will remain closed. BJP’s Sunil Jakhar is being given the credit for the same. As per information, State BJP President Suni Jakhar’s positive approach helped in convincing the farmers to end their protest as it was causing various issues to the public. Sportexx Punjab Leather Federation, Sports and Surgical Association, Valves and cock association hand tools association Jalandhar, all these associations also appreciated his efforts to end the rail-roko protest.Sunil Jakhar tried using his contacts in order to convince the farmers to put an end to this protest.
For the unversed, two farmers’ organizations had been jamming the railway tracks from 17th March 2024 demanding the release of 3 farmers including youth leader Navdeep Singh Jalbeda. Due to these ongoing protests several trains were cancelled, delayed and many even diverted. Adding to this, even various industries and businessmen had to suffer losses due to the protest.
Apart from this, there are chances that during his visit PM Modi might agree to some of the demands kept by the people of Punjab. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Punjab and addressing rallies in Patiala on 23rd May 2024. PM Modi will also be attending the rally in Jalandhar and Gurdaspur on 24th May 2024.
