Black Warrant: Confessions Of A Tihar Jailer is a web series created by Vikramaditya Motwane and Satyanshu Singh. It is presented by Applause Entertainment, an Andolan Production in collaboration with Confluence Media.
The series stars Zahan Kapoor, Rahul Bhat, Paramvir Singh Cheema, Anurag Thakur and Sidhant Gupta. The storyline of the series revolves around Asia's largest prison, Tihar, through the eyes of rookie jailer Sunil Kumar Gupta as he takes on some of India’s most notorious offenders.
This series, set in the 1980s, is inspired by true events and is an adaptation of the author and former superintendent at Tihar Jail, Sunil Gupta and journalist-author Sunetra Choudhury’s book of the same name.
Sunil Gupta is a former Tihar jailor turned writer. During an interview he revealed that he has witnessed 8 hangings. He said, “We used to consider Tihar as a family. Whosoever is coming to the jail, he is our family. Charles Sobhraj was a family for us. He once asked us that he wants to distribute sweets among other prisoners on his birthday. We were never suspicious that he may mix sedatives in the sweets. He broke that trust.”

The thriller series is all set to start streaming on 10th January on Netflix. Series Head, Tanya Bami, Netflix India, said, “We are so excited to start 2025 with something completely fresh, distinctive, and truly in signature Netflix style.”
