New Delhi: In the backdrop of Rafale deal controversy, Ajay Aggarwal who is a BJP leader and also a senior advocate wrote to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director Rishi Kumar Shukla and demanded further investigation in the Bofors scam.

Sources have informed that the BJP leader in his letter to the CBI director had said, “I have written to CBI Director, requesting that a further investigation in Bofors scam be initiated as soon as possible.''

One of the private investigators in the scam Mr Michael Hershman said that he has “a lot to say in the case.” Mr Aggarwal in his letter claimed,"Mr Michael also claimed that he was engaged by VP Singh, the then Finance Minister to investigate the case. During the probe, he found that some kickbacks were paid in some accounts.'' According to Mr Aggarwal, if Michael is called to testify he can make a lot of disclosures regarding the case.

The BJP leader has also pointed his fingers at CBI director Alok Verma, claiming serious charges against him. He claimed that it was Verma attempt to delay the matter at the instructions of Congress President Rahul Gandhi. Mr Aggarwal has also demanded filing of a case against Alok Verma and Mr Gandhi in this case.

The Supreme Court in January this year had asked the locus standi of Ajay Aggarwal, in filing an appeal in the Bofors case. The court had also that it would be against criminal jurisprudence to permit the involvement of third party who is not connected to the case.
