Delhi Police arrests admin of Instagram group 'Bois Locker Room' that talked about the gang rape of minors

After the 'Bois Locker Room' row went viral on Monday, a Class 12 student, above 18, was arrested today for starting "Bois Locker Room", an Instagram group on which obscene messages and morphed photos of underage girls were shared. The teen studies in a Noida school and sat for the Class 12 exams this year.

As per sources the accused has also revealed the names of other group members who were involved in sharing obscene photos of minor girls and chatting about objectifying them during interrogation.

Earlier, the police had arrested one juvenile who was a member of the group and questioned him, leading to the identification of several other members.

So far, 27 members of the group have been identified of which 15 have been called for questioning since Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Cyber Prevention Awareness and Detection (CyPAD) unit has asked for information about the alleged group and its members from the social media platform Instagram. The report from Instagram is still awaited.

The devices of the identified members of the group have been seized and sent for forensic analysis. The role of other group members is being ascertained.

Around ten college students, who are first and second-year students, were part of these groups apart from school students.

Sources say that the identity of these college students has been established and it is suspected that similar groups were also functional which have been deactivated now.

An FIR under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and Indian Penal Code was registered on May 4 by the Special Cell of Delhi Police and investigation has been handed over to CyPAD Unit.

The police have also written to Instagram to provide the details of the group members involved in the chat.

“The identified members who are major, are being examined. The minor members of the group are being dealt with as per the provisions of Juvenile Justice Act,” said an officer of Delhi Police.

Information about the group came to light after a girl shared screenshots of its activities, following which the group started being called out on social media.
