Delhi Schools bomb threat update
DCP South-West Delhi Rohit Meena said that the bomb threat received by nearly 100 schools in the Delhi-NCR region is likely a hoax. “I would appeal the parents to not panic, prima facie it looks like a hoax mail. The mails were sent in bulk at around 4 in the morning on Wednesday. Our expert teams are investigating the matter,” said the official as quoted by a newswire.
Specialised units including bomb detection teams and personnel from the Delhi Fire Service were swiftly mobilised to these schools to take necessary actions ensuring the safety of students and staff. Investigations into the origin and nature of the threats are underway, with authorities noting a trying to recognise a pattern in the threat emails received. Mother Mary School was conducting an exam and had to stop it midway because of the search operation.
As per reports, Delhi Police suspect the IP address could be masked through a VPN. On the other hand, Atul Garg, Director of Delhi Fire Services was quoted saying that the bomb threats “appear to be hoax" “We received around 60 calls about bomb threats in schools. We immediately sent fire tenders and fire tenders have started returning from some schools because nothing has been found and I think all the calls will turn out to be hoax…”said Garg.
