The e-commerce giant, Amazon has again landed into a controversy yet again. This time it has sparked anger in the netizens by selling a painting of Radha-Krishna that is deemed to be obscene.
The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has submitted a memorandum and has also claimed that on Janamashtmai, Amazon was selling an obscene painting involving Radha-Krishna. The Samiti has requested Bengaluru’s Subramanya Nagar Police Station to take action against Amazon. Not only on Amazon but the same painting was also being sold on the Exotic India website as a part of the Janmashtami Sale.
The painting was being sold by a seller based in Bengaluru named Inkologie.
As soon as the picture started doing rounds, social media was enraged and started posting a picture of the painting with the hashtag Boycott Amazon. Some also requested legal action against both websites.
This is how the Twitterati has reacted to the painting.
Hi @amazonIN it's high time you check what you are selling . Else next time you won't have your customers here. This seller is Inkologie, a Bengaluru based organization. pic.twitter.com/f04bzMXgXI

Later, the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti tweeted, “Success: Amazon and Exotic India remove an obscene painting of God Shrikrishna and Radha after Hindus protest using hashtag #BoycottAmazon and #BoycottExoticIndia.”
After all this uproar, Exotic India sent out an apology through Twitter saying, “It was brought to our notice that an inappropriate image was uploaded on our website. The same was brought down immediately. We sincerely apologise, Pls dont #Boycott_ExoticIndia #boycott_exoticlndia… Hare Krsna.”
The painting now has been withdrawn from both websites.
This has not been the first time when Amazon has come under the radar of Twitteratis for allegedly hurting the sentiment of communities in India. In the year 2019, it was selling rugs and seat covers with pictures of Hindu Gods printed on them.
