India Boxer Pooja Rani has been defeated in the quarterfinals of women’s middle (69-75kg) category. She lost to Li Qian at the Tokyo Olympics.
Indians had their hopes high on medals as the players had proven to be a lot more stringer this time especially women. In the Women’s Hockey match against South Africa, India had a 4-3 win setting new records.
Pooja had earlier opened her game with a win in the Women’s Middleweight category. She is the first woman to qualify for Tokyo Olympics 2020. Today’s math however was not in favor of Pooja Rani as she was missing punches.
Pooja had shown immense chances of another medal when she defeated her 20-year-old opponent in the Asian championship. Even in the second match Qian had got an upper hand as the round was decided in her favor.
Pooja had won the Asian Games bronze medal in the year 2014 but missed her opportunity to Rio. She sure came back stronger this time in the Tokyo Olympics and ensured that she was in her best shape.
