The Buckingham Murders is an Indian crime thriller film. It is directed by Hansal Mehta. The movie is produced by Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor. It stars Kareena Kapoor Khan as Jasmeet Bhamra, Keith Allen as Mille and Ranveer Brar as Daljeet Sethi. Prabhleen Sandhu as Preeti Sethi, Sarah-Jane Dias as Indrani Rai, Sanjeev Mehra as Kamalpreet Bhamra, Ash Tandon as DI Hardik Patel and Kapil Redekar as Saquib Chaudhary are seen in supporting roles.

This film is marked as Kareena’s first production venture. This movie was released on 13th September in theatres. Following which, it started streaming on Netflix on 8th November.

The plot of the movie revolves around a British-Indian detective who is assigned the case of a 10-year-old murdered child in Buckinghamshire. Although the film is not based on any true events, the audience is claiming that it is inspired by Kate Winslet’s series 'Mare of Easttown'.

In an interview, actress Kareena Kapoor had shared her experience and said, “I think I loved playing that part because this is the first time, I am playing a detective, and I am a huge crime drama fan. It’s a career-defining role for me and one of my best characters.” The actress has also shared that she has asked the director Hansal Mehta to make it a four-part series since she has liked playing this character.

Who killed Ishpreet? 

Initially, Daljeet played by Ranveer Brar becomes the prime suspect as he had taken an insurance policy in his son’s name and would gain huge amount of money if the boy died. He was also abusive with his wife and was having an extra marital affair with his son’s piano teacher. But in the end, it is revealed that the killer was none other than the boy’s own mother Preeti Kohli.

Why did she kill Ishpreet?

Preeti Kohli was not satisfied with her life as she was treated like a servant in her own house. When Ishpreet was adopted, it was against her wish. Her life became even worse after Ishpreet’s adoption. Her husband was also cheating on her. She was so done with her marriage that she wanted to punish Daljeet. She wanted to get rid of the kid to punish her husband and receive Ishpreet’s life insurance money.
