As the Finance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharam is presenting Budget 2021, she said the Minimum Support Price will continue at a steady pace.
This assertion comes at a time when the farmers are protesting at the borders of Delhi to convince the government for repeal of the contentious farm laws.
The Finance Minister said, more than Rs 75,000 crore were paid to wheat farmers in 2020-21. She added the total amount paid to paddy farmers surged to Rs 1.72 lakh crore in 2020-21.
While Sitharaman said the government is committed to the
welfare of farmers, the opposition leaders protested to the claims made by her.
