Bus rams into truck on Yamuna expressway, 8 killed

Lucknow: On Friday, as many as 8 passengers were killed and 30 others were injured after a bus rammed into a truck in Gautam Buddha Nagar district on Yamuna expressway. It was a double-decker private bus and was reportedly carrying 40 passengers when the accident took place.

Police sources at the state headquarters said that the bus was on its way from Agra to Noida when it collided with the truck under Rabupura police station area. The accident is believed to have happened at around 5 am in the morning. 

UP CM Yogi Adityanath expressing his grief regarding the incident tweeted, "aaj greater noida mein bus durghatna mein aath logo ke nidhan se mujhe dukh pahucha hai, ishwar se diwangat aatma ki shanty aur parijano ko sambal dene ki prarthana karta hu. Durghatna mein ghayal yatriyo k shigra swasthaya laabh ki bhi kaamna karta hu" (I am saddened by the bus accident that killed eight people in Greater Noida today. I pray for the peace of the departed soul and the strength to the family. I also wish speedy recovery of those injured in the accident.)

The injured people have been admitted to the hospital. Meanwhile efforts are underway to identify the deceased. The cause of the accident has still not been ascertained. The SHO said, “The driver died and we have not been able to find the conductor yet. So far no one has been able to provide concrete details as to what happened.”
