Amazon, Flipkart, Zomato, Swiggy and various other e-commerce entities have been accused of 'daylight robbery' by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).
CAIT has accused e-commerce giants for violation of mandatory display of country of origin, manufacturing, sellers details on products as per norms under Consumer Protection (E-commerce) rules, 2020, Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Act, 2011 and guidelines of Food Safety & Standards Authority of India.
In a letter sent to Union Commerce Minister, Piyush Goal, CAIT has written, ""It is a case of daylight robbery of e-commerce entities in India and therefore demand immediate action against the erring e-commerce portals and online mechanism providers."
Asking for an action against these e-commerce giants, the
National President of CAIT, BC Bhartia and the Secretary General Praveen
Khandelwal had said these e-commerce giants were violating the norms of the
above acts and guidelines.
