West Bengal is all gearing up for polls and its campaign versus campaign for Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and Trinamool Congress (TMC).
TMC launched a campaign, ‘Singh Bangla Nijer Meyeke Chai’. In English, it means, West Bengal wants its own daughter as its face.
There has been campaigns in which the Trinamool congress is trying to portray BJP as external force while the TMC is native to West Bengal.
After the above slogan by TMC, BJP has come up with its own ‘Bangla Nijer Meyeke Chai, Pishi Not’. In English, it means, ‘Bengal wants its own daughter as its face but not Pishi (Mamata)’.
The politics in West Bengal is getting murkier with different slogans. Battle cries are being raised in which people are being pursued to vote for 'Daughter of Bengal' against the 'Outside Elements.'
Reportedly, such campaigns could create fresh divisions between Bengali and Non-Bengali segments. Different groups are using various deities to strengthen their game in the upcoming elections.
Some use Durga, the deity as the epitome of Bengali identity while the other side is using lord Ram as a symbol of national identity.
