Sikh woman from Ontario, Canada has grappled all the headlines after she designed the first-ever safety-certified multisport helmet which is specifically designed for kids wearing a turban. The idea of making these helmets came to her mind when her kids started riding bikes but did not get suitable helmets because of the turban.

Tina Singh revealed that she has three children and all of them are boys. The problem occurred when they started riding bikes and did not find a helmet that can be worn on a turban. She further added that this frustrated her because there was no safety for her kids while riding. She stated, "I was frustrated that there wasn't a safe option in sports helmets for my kids.”

Reportedly, Tina Singh worked for 2 long years to make a helmet that can be worn by people who tie a turban. She revealed that these helmets are in production and certified for use with bicycles, inline skates, kick scooters, and skateboarding for kids over five. Basically, this handle has a dome-like potion on the top which accommodates the child’s long hair. The helmet further has two finger spaces above the eyebrow, creating a "v" shape around the ear and one finger space between the chinstrap and the ear. Tina Sigh said, “this is a big learning curve for me, it's not something I've ever done before."

In 2018, Ontario's Progressive Conservative government joined Alberta, BC, and Manitoba to allow Sikhs to ride two-wheelers without a helmet. The previous government did not allow this rule to pass as they thought that it would pose road safety risk. These helmets designed by Tina Singh were praised by the government as it is a great invention for the Sikh Community.
