Canada Study Visa Rule: Changing college after reaching Canada becomes stricter for Indian students

According to the new rules, if a student takes admission in a Canadian college from India, he/she will not be able to change the college after reaching there.

According to the new rules, if a student takes admission in a Canadian college from India, he/she will not be able to change the college after reaching there. If the student changes the college, then the candidate will have to take a study visa again. If the visa is refused, the student will have to leave Canada within 30 days.

As per Jagran, the student will be deprived of a post-study visa work permit. If the student changes the college in which he has paid the fee, he will not get the fee back. As per the reports, every year, more than 2.5 lakh Indian students go to Canada on study visa, in which the number of students from Punjab is 1.5 to 1.75 lakh.

'50% of foreign students changed their college in Canada'

As per ASCO (Association Consultant for Overseas Studies), till now 50 percent of the students used to change their college after reaching Canada. Earlier, the student used to remove the offer letter of the college whose study visa he had applied for while reaching Canada and upload the offer letter of the new college on the Canadian immigration website and GC portal.

After uploading, the student used to demand a refund. Mostly the refund was received and some was left out.

Students were also getting misled by changing colleges. Many agents used to mislead the students and tell them about getting a discount on the fees. The students used to change their colleges by falling into the trap of the agents. The agents used to get their commission from the college in which they got the students admitted.

Now, according to the new rules of the Canadian government, the college will not be changed. If the college is changed, then the study visa will have to be taken again. The visa may or may not be refused. If there is a refusal then the said student will have to return within thirty days.
