An Oscar award winner, Canadian actor, best known for his role in The Sound of Music, Christopher Plummer has died. He was 91 years old. Plummer was also nominated for the Oscars for The Last Station in 2010 and All the Money in the World in 2018.
The Man who would be King and Knives out are two of his another popular films. He played a villainous Klingon in a Star Trek film and TV anchorman in The Insider.
According to reports, he died at his home in Connecticut while his wife Elaine Taylor was by his side, according to a report in BBC. Plummer's manager and his long term friend, Lou Pitt remembered him as, "an extraordinary man who deeply loved and respected his profession".
In a statement to a PA news agency, the Sound of Music co-star Dame Julie Andrews said, "The world has lost a consummate actor today and I have lost a cherished friend."
Oscar awards academy, the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences said, Plummer " "beguiled audiences across generations."
Similarly, Bafta appreciated his work since 50s in a condolences message.
The official Twitter handle of The Sound of Music tweeted, " We're saddened to hear of Christopher Plummer’s passing. His legacy as our Captain will live on in THE SOUND OF MUSIC forever. Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this time." The tweet was also accompanied by a video.
