The first case of the coronavirus was reported in China in 2019 and has devastated the whole world. It has killed over 3 million people globally, while more than 16.25 million people have been contracted the virus. Even after more than a year, it is a mystery that from where did this virus came from.

Recently, a group of 18 world’s top scientists has claimed that the theory that said that the virus has been leaked from a laboratory cannot be rejected. The team includes Cambridge University’s microbiologist Ravindra Gupta and Student of Evolution of Viruses at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Centre Jessie Bloom. The team has said that there is still a need for investigation to arrive at the final decision on the origin of the novel coronavirus.

Some scientists including David Railman, professor of microbiology at Stanford University in a Science Journal said that the theory of the virus’ sudden exists from a lab and a genetic spillover cannot be rejected. The scientists have said that the World Health Organisation (WHO) which was investigating the origin of the virus has ignored some factors.

The WHO team who have visited Wuhan, China in January and February for four weeks have summed up their report with a fact that the virus has come from bats to humans.

But now, the team of scientists has said that the theory of leaking of virus from laboratory and natural development of virus should be taken seriously until we got our hands on enough facts against the theory.
