In an absolute shocker, an Army veteran Maj Gen (Dr) YashMor came under the scanner of social media after his alleged remarks on Param Vir Chakra Awardee Captain Vikram Batra went viral on social media. In the viral video, Maj Gen (Dr) YashMor was heard saying that Shaheed Vikram Batra was honoured with Param Vir Chakra due to journalist Barkha Dutt. The army veteran was advocating in favour of media organisations like The Print, Wire, and Scroll which have been critical of the government, and in order of doing so, he stated that Vikram Batra would never have gotten Param Vir Chakra if he was not interviewed by Barkha Dutt during the Kargil War.
In the viral video, Maj Gen (Dr) YashMor says, "Media organisations like The Wire, Print, Scroll, and others are called anti-Indians and people say to run bulldozer over their offices. There is no anti-India, everyone is patriotic. Questioning the government is a good thing, everyone must do it. Stories from sides should be heard. People call Barkha Dutt an anti-Indian. She was the one who interviewed and made Captain Vikram Batra famous during the Kargil war. Otherwise, no one would have known Vikram Batra. He would not have got the credit and Param Vir Chakra if Barkha Dutt would not interview him. He would never have been recommended for Param Vir Chakra. People abuse Barkha Dutt on her timeline, please come out of the WhatsApp university."
According to Maj Gen Yash Mor, Captain Vikram Batra got Param Vir Chakra all because of Barkha Dutt and her reporting in Kargil war. pic.twitter.com/kNbZdQ3FF2

Netizens angry over veteran army's remarks
"Vikram Batra was made famous by Barkha Dutt otherwise no one would bave known him". This atrocious statement from a top Army officer might surprise most but this hope for fame through Leftlib journalists is exactly what makes them obsessive with NDTV types. https://t.co/laujCX37iB

But there were other officers and units who fought valiantly and sacrificed their life. Are they all came to limelight as Capt batra .No because they were not interviewed and no media glare
This is an unbelievable statement from a Maj Gen. Quite foolish to suggest that a soldier was awarded India's highest bravery award because of a journalist's reporting. Such loose talk in public does no credit to him and the rank he held in service. https://t.co/HvzfMmvhtS

Who was Captain Vikram Batra?
Vikram Batra achieved great success in the Indian Army at a young age with his determination, courage, and leadership. Batra was born on September 9, 1974, in Ghuggar village near Palampur in Himachal Pradesh. During the Kargil War on July 7, 1999, the nation lost this valiant son.
