According to a Personnel Ministry order, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Mr. Rishi Kumar Shukla was appointed as the Chief of the Central Bureau of Investigation for a fixed tenure of 2 years, on Friday.
Shukla will have a fixed period of 2 years of service as the Chief of CBI during which he will have a huge task of restoring the credibility of the agency. He is joining the agency at a time when it is going through crucial leadership crises along with discontented subordinates who are upset about their ‘unjustified transfers’. He will have a big responsibility to solve the complicated cases such as AgustaWestland scam, 2G scam, Air India scandal, Fir against former CEO of ICICI Bank Chanda Kochhar, among others.
He has been appointed in place of Alok Kumar Verma who was removed from the post of CBI director on 10th of January.
