Amid the confusion over the wrong and controversial question in yesterday’s (December 13) Class 12th Term 1 Accountancy Exam, CBSE controller Sanyam Bharadwaj has said that the students will be awarded up to “six grace marks”. In an audio message sent to the school principals, the board controller can be heard saying that “Don't worry students, if you attempt 28 to 31 questions correctly, you will score around 38 marks. CBSE will award grace marks up to six to the students.”
He further said that the change in the Accounts exam was a last-minute shock for the students. “In CBSE sample papers, you are asked to attempt 45 out of 55 questions, while in the exam paper it is 40 out of 48 questions, which seems shocking to the students. Along with that, the instructions were not proper in the paper,” the controller was quoted saying.
He also said that “the answer of question number 10 in the answer key is 100 percent wrong, question number 47 is controversial.”
CBSE Term 1 board exams have been facing controversies. Earlier on Monday, the Central Board of Secondary Education was heavily criticised over a Class 10 English question paper that promoted "gender stereotyping" and "regressive notions."
This issue was raised by Congress leader Sonia Gandhi in the Parliament and a few hours after, the board issued a statement.
