The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has submitted its Class 12th evaluation criteria before the Supreme Court. For results of Class 12th, marks obtained in unit, term and practicals will be taken into account. Meanwhile, for classes - X and XI, marks in the best of 3 from 5 papers in the term examination will be considered.

The education board told Supreme Court that Class XII results will be declared on the basis of performance in Class 10 and 11(30 per cent weightage) and 12 (40 per cent weightage). CBSE would be following the 30:30:40 formula for awarding marks/grades to Class 12th students.

AG KK Venugopal has said that students unsatisfied with the marks/grading done through the 30:30:40 criterion can do better or improve their marks by appearing in physical examination. This examination will be conducted as the Covid situation gets better in the county.

30:30:40 formula

Earlier, CBSE has appointed a 13-member committee to recommend the criteria to evaluate Class XII students. The committee now seems to be in favour of the 30:30:40 formula. According to this formula, 30 per cent weightage will be given to class X and XI final results and 40 per cent to XII pre-board tests.

As per the formula, the class XII pre-board tests will have a maximum weightage of 40 percent in the final assessment. The formula will only be applicable for the 80 marks devoted to the theory section of an exam. For the remaining 20 marks, students will be assessed on the practicals and internal assessment according to usual protocol.

In the schools where practicals could not be held due to coronavirus pandemic, virtual practicals would be held. Similarly, schools with pending internal assessment are permitted to conduct the same now in only online mode and upload marks on the provided link latest by June 28.
