The Central Government has reportedly provided ‘Y+’ security to Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency MP Sushil Rinku and West Assembly constituency MLA Sheetal Angural who joined BJP. This follows Punjab Govt.’s decision to withdraw the leaders’ security following their shocking move to BJP. A Rinku’s statement claiming threat to his life, the BJP-led Central Govt. was quick to rush to their aid.
Both the leaders are currently in New Delhi but the Home Ministry has sent security personnel to their homes. According to sources, a total of 18 security personnel will be deployed for the security of MP Sushil Rinku and 11 security personnel for the security of MLA Sheetal Angural.
It is noteworthy that after leaving the Aam Aadmi Party and joining BJP, the Punjab government had reduced the security of Rinku and Angural. Both the leaders had raised this issue before Union Home Minister Amit Shah during their meeting recently, after which the Home Ministry increased their security.
The duo had announced the exit from the Aam Aadmi Party on March 27 which was met with severe backlash from AAP workers. They staged a protest during the duo’s roadshow after their move to BJP, during which posters were held labelling the former MP and MLA as ‘Gaddars’ (Traitors).
