This week, a serious security alert affecting Apple devices in India was released by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In). Many Apple products, including Macs, iPads, and iPhones, are listed in the high-severity alert dated August 2, 2024, as having serious vulnerabilities.

The CERT-In alert finds several security holes that might enable hackers to gain unauthorized access to confidential data, run arbitrary code, get around security precautions, cause denial of service (DoS) attacks, and launch spoofing attacks on compromised systems. Numerous Apple products, both hardware and software, are affected by these vulnerabilities.

Devices and Software Versions Affected:

Safari: Versions before 17.6; macOS Ventura: Versions prior to 13.6.8; macOS Sonoma: Versions prior to 14.6; visionOS: Versions prior to 1.3; iOS and iPadOS: Versions prior to 17.6; iOS and iPadOS: Versions prior to 16.7.9

The security holes affect a large number of Apple products, including several iPad and iPad Pro models, as well as older models like the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Vision Pro headset.
The iPhone X, 8 Plus, and 8 are two of the older models that are at risk.

Recommended Actions:

To fix these security flaws, Apple has released patches and updates. Users are advised to check the Apple support page for updates to their devices and to review the vulnerabilities. To safeguard themselves against potential threats, users are advised to go to Settings, choose Software Update, and install the most recent versions of iOS, iPadOS, or macOS.
