On March 8th, on International Women's Day, Phulkari (WOA) launched the 'Cervical Cancer Youth Ambassador Program'. This awareness program was organized at Circuit House, Ludhiana. S. Sukhwinder Singh Bindra, Chairperson, Punjab Youth Development Board (Government of Punjab) Graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Chairperson Sukhwinder Singh Bindra highly appreciated the program started by this organization. Phulkari WOA Founder Parneet Babbar said that this program brings us closer to our goal of making Punjab the first Cervical Cancer free Indian State by expanding our reach to spread awareness among the Youth of Punjab, which is the goal of the program. Phulkari W.O.A. President (2020-22) Deepa Sawani said that she is very proud to be able to associate herself with the Punjab Youth Development Board as she and the Board have the same objectives. Phuikari WOA President ( 2020-22 ) , Deepa Swani said that they are very honoured to be able to associate ourselves with the Punjab Youth Development Board as our aims are aligned. Phulkari CAN ( Philanthropic Wing of Phulkari WOA ) President, Nidhi Sindhwani said that they have been working to spread Cervical Cancer awareness since 2018. They have conducted 55 awareness sessions through which 2.6 Lakhs people have been impacted & conducted free screening for 150 underprivileged women. In this month alone they will be conducting free screening for 100 underprivileged women.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson S. Sukhwinder Singh Bindra said that he appealed to the Youth of the State to stay interested in sports and stay away from drugs. S. Bindra said that Punjab Youth Development Board under the able leadership of Hon'ble Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh is fully committed for the Betterment and Welfare of the Youth of the State.
This program has been spearheaded by Program Head, Phulkari CAN's Conquer Cancer Priyanka Goyal. It was also attended by Phulkari WOA, Mentor Kamal Uppal & Program Heads Dr Richa Thaman & Neha Sharma. Vice President Sheetal Khanna & Program Heads Dr Rashmi Vij & Dr Neeru Gupta are actively involved in all the activities conducted to eradicate Cervical Cancer.
Apart from Mr. Nitin Tandon and Mr. Nitin Arora, Principal of Government College for Girls, Ludhiana Dr. Sukhwinder Kaur, President of Indian Medical Association Dr. Saroj Agarwal, MC Councilor Rashi Agarwal and many other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
