Residents of Brooklyn had to face a dramatic incident after students of Chabad Lubavitch protested against the sealing of a secret underground passage discovered beneath the famous Chabad Lubavitch World Headquarters. A riot-like situation prevailed inside Chabad Lubavitch World Headquarters to prevent a cement truck from filling the tunnels. As a result, NYPD had to step in and they had to arrest a few youths to bring the situation under control.
The incident took place on Monday when NYPC was called to 770 Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood, where a number of Chabad students — most in their teens and early twenties — mounted a last stand against construction crews called to fill in the tunnel connecting the synagogue at that location to the defunct Chabad mikvah around the corner.
Chabad Lubavitch secret tunnel video is doing rounds on social media with Americans in shock and confusion over the secret passage. In the viral Chabad Lubavitch secret tunnel video, the students can be seen creating a ruckus. A person wearing black clothes long with a hat refuses to come out of the tunnel so that the it wont gets sealed. Lubavitcher also ripped down the wood paneling on the south wall of the synagogue, revealing a cavernous concrete space about 20 feet wide underneath the women’s section.
NYPD eventually made 10 arrests. Video showed several men in Hasidic garb being led out, their wrists bound with zip ties. The images of destruction inside a sacred space at the center of Chabad spiritual life were painful for many Lubavitchers, who rushed to condemn it. For the unversed, Chabad, also known as Lubavitch, Habad and Chabad-Lubavitch, is an Orthodox Jewish Hasidic dynasty..
After the video went viral, many people reacted to it on social media. A user wrote, "This is absolutely insane, what is the purpose of the tunnels? It definitely can’t be anything good."
Another user wrote, "I read this three times and I still have no idea what the hell is going on"
One more user wrote, "This is interesting; I wonder what purpose they were used for. I am guessing nothing good since most tunnels are dug for the purpose of transporting or moving things you don't want anyone to see."
"What? They dug tunnels and nobody noticed? Why are they so set on keeping the tunnels if COVID lockdowns are over? Nothing but questions after reading this," wrote another user.
Chabad Lubavitch HQ took to its official X handle and expressed its agony and disappointment in its statement. Sharing their note, Chabad Lubavitch HQ wrote, "The Chabad-Lubavitch community is pained by the vandalism of a group of young agitators who damaged the synagogue below Chabad Headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway Monday night. These odious actions will be investigated, and the sanctity of the synagogue will be restored. Our thanks to the NYPD for their professionalism and sensitivity. We are grateful for the outpouring of concern and for the support of our Chabad-Lubavitch institutions around the world."
