Season 2 of Chamak, a musical-crime drama web series, has been once again released on the only streaming platform SonyLiv, and it has now become the talk of the town. The series has garnered positive reviews from viewers because of its intriguing narrative. 

Notably, the first season of Chamak was released on December 7, 2023, on Sony Liv only. 

The series has grabbed attention widely and people are curious to know is this a true story? The simple answer to this is no, but the series is surely inspired by a few true stories of the Punjabi entertainment industry, which is also known as Pollywood. 

The film features Punjabi sensation Gippy Grewal, Paramvir Singh Cheema, Isha Talwar, Akasa Singh, and more.

The story - 

Paramvir Singh Cheema portrayed the role of Kaala, a rising Punjabi singer and rapper, and the son of the legendary singer Tara Singh, who is played by Gippy Grewal. The story shows Kaala’s struggle to become a renowned Punjabi singer; along with this, he also reveals the truth behind the mysterious murder of his father.

Notably, Chamka is not a real-life story but closely showcases the ground realities of Pollywood, including the positive influence of politics in the Pollywood industry. The topic resonates with the real-life incidents commonly reported in the Punjabi Industry. 

A similar incident was witnessed by Punjabi singer Gippy Grewal, whose Canadian house was attacked recently, and the responsibility for the same was taken by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. 

The SonyLiv series starts with an echoing tone that shadows the past. A similar masterpiece was a film inspired by the tragic assassination of renowned Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila. The similarity in the name also transports the viewers to the reality of Punjabi artists and the involvement of politicians in Pollywood.
