A hospital in Chandigarh’s Sector-32 has received a bomb threat through an email, prompting the police to seal and evacuate the area. Police officers and the Bomb squads are combing through the area to find the alleged explosives. As per reports, there is a Mental Health Institute in Sector 32, which has received this threat.
According to the police, the mail was received at around 9:40 am. The entire area has been sealed by the police following the threat. The police say that there is possibility of the threat being a hoax. However, at present, it is being treated as serious.
The email does not inform of the identity of the person making the threat. The hospital lies near a residential area, so the police are taking full precautions. It was written in the threat that a bomb was kept in the mental hospital.
According to hospital officials, the entire hospital has been evacuated. The patients have been shifted to another place. Checking is being done from the parking area to the ward. Along with the bomb squad, the dog squad has also been called.
It is also being said that similar threats were received by other hospitals. However, at present the investigation is going on at the institute in Chandigarh.
The police have kept the health department teams including civil defence, fire brigade and ambulance on standby. The entire staff from inside has also been evacuated.
