On Friday, an old tree suddenly fell on the students sitting on the ground at Chandigarh’s Sector 9 Carmel Convent School. A child died and many were injured. The deceased has been identified as Hirakshi, who lived in Sector 43.
11 children have been admitted to GMSH-16. While 2 have been admitted to PGI. The condition of a lady conductor and a student was said to be critical.
The incident happened during break time when the students were sitting under the tree and having their lunch. Suddenly the tree fell on them. The tree was about 70 feet tall and 250 years old.

On getting information about the incident, the families of many children reached the school. The police force was also deployed outside the school to maintain law and order. DC and other administrative officers have reached the hospital to meet the injured children.
