‘Awareness Mission', a Chandigarh-based NGO, distributed uniforms and stationery items to as many as 470 students of Government Senior Secondary School, Narot Mehra( Pathankot).
The NGO activists - Dilawar Singh Thakur (Retired Sub Inspector Chandigarh Police), also an old student of the school and Inspector Ram Dyal (Chandigarh Police) were the chief guests. They also honoured students, who have excelled in academic, sports and co-curricular activities on the occasion.
Dilawar Singh Thakur, while sharing his memories of school days, exhorted the students to concentrate on their studies to shape their future in a better way. He lauded the efforts being put by the education department as well as dedication of the school teachers to provide better infrastructural facilities and quality education facilities in government schools.
He also promised to extend help to contribute for the development of the school infrastructure as well as welfare of the students.
Ram Dyal in his address, while enumerating the various community service activities of "Awareness Mission", announced that the NGO would honour the strudents scoring 90 percent or above marks in the ensuing Board examinations.
The coaching classes for the government school students aspiring to seek admission in Jawahar Navodaya Vidhalya would also be started and the parentless students would be adopted by the NGO, they added.
District Education Officer (SE), Pathankot, Varinder Prashar, DEO (Elementary), Hoshiarpur, Sanjiv Gautam, Deputy DEOs, Rajeshwar Salaria and Ramesh Lal Thakur, Principal, Neelam Rathaur, Sarpanch Raj Kumar, while addressing on the occasion, lauded the gesture of the activists of "Awareness Mission".
Bhupinder Singh, Surinder Singh, Arjun Thakur, Manuj Paetap, Kamal Kishore,Ramesh Kumar, Balkar Attri( District Media Coordinator) Meetu, Anil Kumar, Tarsem Lal, Pawan Kumar, Dara Singh, school staff and NGO members and among others were present on the occasion.
