After an evening meeting with Navjot Singh Sidhu, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi will today meet the party High command. CM Channi, according to sources, will discuss Sidhu’s
concern over the appointment of certain officials along with the future course of action in the state.
Sources said that Channi will be meeting with Rahul Gandhi and General Secretary KC Venugopal today and put forth what was discussed with Sidhu.
The key discussion points to be raised in the meeting will be the appointment of DGP, AG and the other tentative ministers whom Sidhu doesn’t want to be in the cabinet.
All the demands raised by Sidhu will be taken up during the meeting. Further, if Sidhu’s demands are justified, what to be agreed on and the logic behind the appointments of ministers.
The appointments of DGP and AG have been opposed, therefore, the chief minister is presumed to explain and justify appointments of the top posts, sources said.
Refuting rumours of joining the BJP, former CM Amarinder Singh had announced that he will be forming a new party. What threat will this bring for Congress, while it is speculated that around twenty Congress leaders might join hands with Captain? This is seen as an issue for the new cabinet is also on the meeting card.
On Thursday, he had also said that if the situation arises to do a floor test, the House Speaker must decide.
Sources have said that Captain’s further move could be dangerous for the Punjab government. Sources have informed that if the crisis in Punjab Congress continues,
Amarinder Singh might use this opportunity to dissolve the government which could lead to the imposition of the President’s rule in the state.
Channi will be keeping all these issues in front of the High Command and a decision will be taken once he returns to Punjab.
A decision on the formation of a coordination committee will also be taken after talks are held between the high command and Channi.
