In a recent announcement on X (formerly Twitter), OpenAI stated, "You can now archive your chats in ChatGPT! Archive removes chats from your sidebar without deleting them. You can see your archived chats in Settings. Currently available on Web and iOS with Android coming soon."
The Archive Chat feature offers several functionalities:
1. Automatic Archiving: Every conversation with ChatGPT is automatically saved in the user's archive.
2. Easy Retrieval: Users can find specific conversations using keywords, dates, or other filters.
3. Sharing and Exporting: Archived chats can be shared with others or exported for reference outside the platform.
4. Privacy Controls: Users can choose which conversations to archive and control who can access them.
OpenAI emphasized that the feature is accessible to both free and paid users of ChatGPT, including ChatGPT Plus subscribers. This ensures that all users, regardless of their subscription tier, can take advantage of the new archiving feature.
