In a historic move, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu became the first CM to celebrate the Himachal Day function at Kaza, in the tribal district of Lahaul Spiti, which is located along the China border. This move is seen as an effort to promote tourism in the region and promote its beautiful landscape, which has remained unexplored for a long time.
The Chief Minister addressed the gathering, which included a large number of locals attired in traditional clothes, and announced a 3% DA for 2.15 lakh employees and 90,000 retirees, which will put a burden of Rs 500 crore on the exchequer. He also announced that all women in the Lahaul Spiti district between the ages of 18 to 60 years will be given a monthly pension of Rs 1,500 from June onwards.
The Chief Minister said his government had laid thrust on strengthening the health and education infrastructure in the state, as well as enhancing social security pensions. He added that efforts would be made to improve the financial health of the state and make it the most prosperous state in the next 10 years.

Sukhu also visited the famous Kungri and Dhankhar Gompa and offered prayers for the happiness and prosperity of the people. He emphasized the maximum use of technology to strengthen the infrastructure in the region, with a focus on the economy. He also promised to extend 4G mobile phone services up to the Spiti Valley.
The Chief Minister was welcomed with grand traditional costumes and musical instruments when he reached the Spiti Valley on Friday. He honored people from various fields with Himachal Gaurav awards during the Himachal Day function.
