Christmas is a time to celebrate the feeling of love and joy
with family and friends. People enjoy having a family get-together, social
events and doing parties with their close ones to make this festive season memorable.
Why do we celebrate Christmas on December 25?
Christmas is the jolly time of the year. The day is
celebrated to remember the birth of Jesus Christ, who Christians believe
is the Son of God. It is observed on 25th December all across the world. "Christmas"
is a shortened form of "Christ's mass". Jesus was born in
Bethlehem to Joseph and Mary. The month and date of his birth are not known,
but by the early-to-mid-fourth century, the Western Christian Church had placed
Christmas on December 25.
Significance of Christmas:
The Significance of Christmas is known to men, all over the
world. When Jesus Christ was born, the world was full of hatred, greed,
ignorance, and hypocrisy. His birth transformed the lives of the people. He
taught people to be spiritually awakened, exhibits devotion and purity, and be
humble in their life.
Christmas traditions:
Many attend the midnight mass at churches followed by an
elaborate Christmas feast on this day. During this time, pine trees are
decorated with colourful bells, candles, candies, stars and gift
stockings. Most of the Christmas decorations consist of four
colours mainly- red, green, golden and white. People follow the tradition of singing Christmas
carols with dedication that shows their love for God. And nothing can beat
the fun of exchanging Christmas gifts with loved ones that make the occasion
even more exciting.
