Civil & police officers get Covishield jabs, DC appeals all frontline workers to come forward for vaccination

Mohali SSP and ADC (G) & ADC (D) are among the first to be inoculated in the second phase of Covid-19 vaccination drive. Following the mandatory protocols, the top officers sat under medical observation for about thirty minutes.

SAS Nagar, February 3: SSP Satinder Singh, ADC(G) Aashika Jain and ADC(D) Rajiv Gupta were among the first officers of the Civil and Police Administration of the district who in the presence of  Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan got Covishield jabs on Wednesday at Civil Hospital Mohali during the launch of the second phase of COVID vaccination drive.

Sharing details Deputy Commissioner informed that the second phase of the vaccination drive is for the pre-registered Frontline Warriors while the first phase has been for Health Care Workers. 

He informed that 8621 Frontline Warriors from the district have been registered at COWIN portal and 54 have been vaccinated as of now. Sharing the reason for non- administration of the vaccine to him, Deputy Commissioner informed that Vaccine is not given to a person who has been positive with the virus for less than a month; since he has recently been COVID positive so as per norms he has not been vaccinated. 

However, “I am with my team and am standing by them during their inoculation”, said he.

The top brass of the civil and police administration not only received COVID vaccine but also followed all mandatory protocols and sat under medical observation for about thirty minutes.

He urged people not to fall prey to the rumours regarding vaccination as the vaccine is safe; no adverse effect on any beneficiary has been reported from any session site in the district, he vociferously asserted.

SSP Satinder Singh sharing his inoculation experience said that the process was smooth. He reported at the data entry desk and after requisite data entry, he was administered the vaccine.

It was the painless and satisfactory experience with no adverse effects after vaccination. After vaccination, he went straight to his place of duty. He said that all the employees of the force have done a commendable job during the lockdown in the pandemic. 

Besides maintaining law and order, putting their own lives at the risk, they assisted in the distribution of food packets, medicines and other essentials at public doorstep. They are rightfully entitled to be vaccinated on priority and exhorted all police personnel to come forward and take the jab.
