A land dispute led to clashes between Nihangas and followers of Radha Soami Dera Beas in Punjab's Amritsar district on Sunday evening. Late at 10.30 pm, DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav and ADGP Arpit Shukla reached Beas on Monday morning. On Monday, ADGP Shukla had separate meetings with each side and appealed for peace.
Near the Darya bridge in Beas, there was a clash between the Nihang Singh Tarna Dal of Baba Bakala Sahib and followers of Beas Dera in which people from both sides as well as police personnel were injured. In the initial investigation, the reason for the clash was said to be a dispute over grazing cattle. But ADGP Arpit Shukla made it clear that this conflict was over the land after speaking with both sides on Monday.

DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav himself arrived in Beas, where he took stock of the security measures. During this, he asked people to stay away from rumors and informed them that no one has died in this whole incident. Although some persons have been injured, they are all no longer in danger and are receiving medical attention. Along with this, he also asked the people to maintain peace.
Locals said that the conflict between the Dera and the Nihang Sikhs grew over the land. Land near the Beas Darya, which is said to be the name of the Dera, but the Nihang Sikhs tried to emulate it. Since then, the situation of confrontation between the two factions persists every day. For some days the animals of Nihang Sikhs were coming to the land of the dera again and again. On Saturday there was a dispute as well, but the police intervened and put an end to it. The situation spiraled out of control on Sunday.
