Severe flooding and major infrastructure damage have been caused by an abrupt cloudburst near Solanganala Manali in Anjani Mahadev. At midnight, a cloudburst occurred in Palchan, causing significant damage. Travel has been impeded by debris from the cloudburst that blocked the Manali-Leh road.

Destruction and chaos in Palchan

The heavy rains caused chaos throughout the villages of Palchan Ruad and Kulang, resulting in the collapse of houses. Two houses in Palchan were destroyed and another partially damaged as a result of the cloudburst aggravating the floodwaters. The strong flood also damaged a nearby power project and an important bridge.

Residents barely survived as floodwaters rushed through their homes. The Manali-Leh road remains closed due to snow gallery debris near Palchan and Solang. In evaluating the damage and distributing aid, the local government takes a proactive role.

Emergency Response and Weather Alerts

In order to organize rescue and relief efforts, SDM Manali Raman Kumar Sharma arrived at the scene with his team. While determining the complete extent of the damage, the administration has sent out alerts to nearby residents. A yellow alert for heavy rain in some areas of the state through July 31 has been issued by the Shimla Meteorological Center. 68.0 mm of rain was recorded recently in Palampur. 44.0 mm in Dhaula Kuan and 22.0 mm in Chamba, among other places.

Additional Weather-Related Incidents

In Nagali Panchayat Majdhar village, Chamba, a storm on Tuesday night tore off the roofs of a house and a cowshed. On Wednesday morning, an hour-and-a-half-long vehicle stoppage was caused by rising water levels on the Chamba-Taleru road near Chau.

The ongoing severe weather conditions continue to pose risks, and local authorities are working to manage the situation and provide relief to affected residents.
