Himachal Pradesh and Jammu Kashmir are witnessing cloud bursts and flash floods since Tuesday. The series of flash floods and cloudbursts has so far claimed 22 lives. Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Himachal Pradesh Police, and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) have been deployed at many regions of the states.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Lahaul Spiti, Manav Verma said that the search operation is going on. Seven bodies have been recovered and the search is on for the missing people. He further said that 51 officers of NDRF, HP Police, and ITBP are carrying out the operation on the spot. He also said that efforts are to restore the damaged roads of the valley.

On the other hand, rescue teams are working to save the lives in Manikarn Valley of Kullu district. Rescue teams are continuously searching for the missing along the river. So far, four missing people have been found.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Anil Khachi addressed the media and said that seven districts in the state remain affected by flash floods. He added that the worst affected districts are – Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu and Chamba.
Himachal’s State Disaster Management Director, Sudesh Kumar Mokhta said that seven people died in the Lahaul-Spiti flash floods triggered by a cloudburst over Tozing Nullah in Udaipur.

The Shimla Meteorological Centre has warned the city indicating heavy rainfall. Multiple landslides have blocked the Chandigarh-Manali and Kalka-Shimla National Highway. The Traffic Management Department has suspended the traffic on the Manali-Leh and Gramphu-Kaza National Highway.
Recently, cloud bursts were reported from the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in South Kashmir and Alosa Village in Bandipoora in North Kashmir.
