In a major political development, Capt Amarinder Singh is asked to resign from his post of Chief Minister. On the other hand, Capt alerted Sonia Gandhi that he “can’t continue with such humiliation.”
According to sources, Congress asked Capt to quit his post in order to allow the election of a new leader. The troubled Chief Minister, on the other hand, appears to be cool and collected so far. He told Congress president Sonia Gandhi this morning that he is being humiliated and that he will instead leave the party.
The dramatic events in the Punjab Congress are occurring as AICC general secretary in charge of Punjab affairs Harish Rawat announced the CLP meeting last night.
Reportedly, Capt had a telephonic conversation with Congress leadership during which he was made aware of the party’s wish. According to a source familiar with the situation, he is expected to resign soon.
