Breaking his silence over the brutal rape and murder of a woman veterinarian in Cyberabad, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Sunday instructed setting up of a fast-track court for expeditious trial in the case. CM Chandrashekhar Rao also assured all necessary help to the victim's family.
In his first public statement since the incident, K Chandrashekhar Rao instructed officials that the accused in the ghastly murder should be tried on fast-track and the culprits, who raped and murdered a 26-year-old veterinary surgeon in Cyberabad, should be given stringent punishment
"The chief minister has instructed officials that the accused of the woman veterinary doctor's ghastly murder should be inquired on a fast-track, and culprits should be given stringent punishment. The chief minister also decided to set up a fast-track court to deal with the case," Telangana Chief Minister's Office stated.
Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao described the rape and murder of the 25-year-old woman by four men as "ghastly" and expressed his "deep anguish". Rao had been facing flak for his silence on the Telangana rape and murder case.
"He was upset that the perpetrators of such heinous crimes are living amidst us. He said the doctor's murder was a gruesome and an inhuman act," the statement read.
The release pointed to the verdict in the rape and murder of a minor girl in Warrangal given within 56 days of the crime due to the setting up of a fast-track court for the case and said, "The chief minister felt that in Telangana case too, the verdict should come quickly."
The chief minister has also assured all the necessary help and support to members of the Telangana rape and murder victim.
BAR ASSOCIATION NOT TO REPRESENT 4 ACCUSED IN T'GANA CASE
A district bar association in Telangana has decided not to represent the four accused in the rape and murder of the woman veterinary doctor in Hyderabad. Mattapally Srinivas, president of the Ranga Reddy Bar Association, said they had taken the decision as "a moral and social responsibility against the heinous crime committed by the accused."
He further said some of the sections under which the four accused in the Telangana rape and murder case were booked by police may carry the death sentence, considering the gravity of the incident.

The four men, identified as Mohammad Areef, Jollu Shiva, Jollu Naveen, and Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu, were booked under Sections 376D (gangrape), 302 (murder),201 (destroying evidence) of the Indian Penal Code. Areef (25), who works as a driver, is the prime accused in the Telangana rape-murder case. The other three accused work as lorry cleaners.
AMEND LAWS, GIVE DEATH PENALTY IN CRIMES AGAINST WOMAN, CHILDREN: RAMA RAO
Telangana minister KT Rama Rao said on Sunday that urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to amend IPC and CrPC so as to provide for death penalty to in crimes against women and children. In a series of tweets, Rama Rao pitched for ensuring expeditious justice to the victims and said anyone committing an act of violence on women and children should be given death penalty without delay and there should be no option for review.
HYDERABAD POLICE SHARES TIPS ON WOMEN'S SAFETY
Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar on Sunday shared a few safety tips for women in view of the Telangana rape and murder case.
The safety tips shared by Hyderabad CP are: (i) While travelling she should tell her family or close relative/friend where she is going and when she will be back (ii) Share last location if possible (iii) Get to know about the route if going to an unfamiliar place (iv) Always wait in crowded and in illuminated areas (v) Be confident and talk loud when confronted. Shout for help if the situation requires.
