Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi finally spoke out over the 2015 sacrilege and STF report on the state’s multi-crore drug haul, which remains sealed in Punjab and Haryana High Court. In his firm response to barbs from PPCC chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, CM Charanjit Channi today backed the government legal team and assured that the STF report will be made public on November 18.
The Punjab CM, talking in an event brought up the critical issue of the drug menace today. "Our legal team was successful in obtaining permission to investigate Gurmeet Ram Rahim in
the sacrilege case. Our lawyers are also fighting the drug case in court, and the sealed reports will hopefully be opened on November 18 " said CM Channi.
The CM went on to say, “I might be from a humble family background, but I’m not weak.” “I’ll solve every issue of people of Punjab,” he asserted.
Mr Channi also accused Badals and former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh of ensuring the STF report remains sealed. “The Channi government will make the report public on November
18 and names of those involved in drug haul will be revealed. Strong action will be taken against those who conspire against Punjab,” he added.
The STF report has been sealed in covers for 2.5 years. Punjab Congress head Navjot Singh Sidhu has been vocal about the issue, constantly questioning his own government of inaction, whether
under Capt Amarinder rule or Charanjit Channi.

Last month, Sidhu had said that “STF Report on Drugs will finally see light of day after 2.5 yrs of delay in sealed covers, court naming main culprits behind drug trade will be first
victory for youth & suffering mothers of Punjab.”
However, the matter was postponed to November. The hearing is now scheduled for November 18.
Punjab has witnessed a lot of drama months ahead of elections, as Congress tries to resolve internal differences. Mr Sidhu had openly defied Amarinder Singh before latter resigned as Chief
Minister.
Now, Sidhu has been critical of current CM Channi, for which he has gained major criticism. Punjab AG APS Deol also slammed Sidhu today.
"Navjot Singh Sidhu's repeated statements aim to derail the State government's sincere efforts to ensure justice in the drug and sacrilege cases", said APS Deol.
"In order to gain political advantage over his political colleagues, Sidhu is spreading false information," he added.
Sidhu has been demanding the AG’s resignation since he was posted to the top post.
