As per US media reports, Coco Lee was going through depression, and her sister revealed that she was in a coma after she attempted suicide on Sunday. Her sisters Carol and Nancy revealed on Instagram that Coco Lee was going through depression for many years and on Sunday she tried to take her own life. Following that she was rushed to hospital, where she died on Wednesday.
The official statement of Coco Lee's family says-
"CoCo had been suffering from depression for a few years but her condition deteriorated drastically over the last few months. Although, CoCo sought professional help and did her best to fight depression, sadly that demon inside of her took the better of her.
On 2 July, she committed suicide at home and was sent to the hospital. Despite the best efforts of the hospital team to rescue and treat her from her coma, she finally passed away on 5 July, 2023...We know now she has gone to a happier place and no longer suffers from depression; we trust God has her best interest looked after!"

For the unaware, Coco Lee voiced the lead character in the Mandarin version of Disney's hit film Milan. In 2011, Coco married Bruce Rockowitz, a Canadian businessman who is the former chief executive of Hong Kong supply chain company Li & Fung. Coco's original name was Ferren Lee. She took her education till high school in San Francisco, US. She won was the first runners-up in the reality show on TVB channel in Hong Kong which pushed her into a career in singing. Notably, when she was 19, her first album was released in 1994. With expertise in Mandopop, she finessed her art in Cantonese and English as well, she was a performer apart from being a good singer and was famous for her live performances worldwide.
