According to the Meteorological Department, Adampur Air Force Station in Punjab was the coldest among the plains of the country. The temperature was 0.7 degrees Celsius.
According to the weather department, a yellow alert has been issued in many regions of Punjab and Chandigarh due to cold waves. The alert has been issued in a total of 21 districts of Punjab.
This alert has been issued in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Mansa, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala, Asas Nagar and Malerkotla.
The western disturbance is going to become active again from 16th December. Meteorological Centre scientist Shashikant Mishra said that the western disturbance will get active once again. It will affect Jammu and Kashmir-Ladakh and adjoining areas. Light to moderate rain and snowfall are expected in these regions. If snowfall happens during this period, the temperature in Punjab will drop further as after snowfall, these winds cool down and move towards the plains, causing the temperature to drop.
