Major cities of Punjab- Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, etc witnessed dense fog and sharp fall in temperature on Monday. The thick blanket of fog brought down visibility level to almost zero. As per the India Meteorological Department data, visibility recorded at 5:30 am in Bhatinda was 0 metre, in Amritsar and Ambala it was 25 metres.
The weather forecast app shows that Jalandhar in Punjab is likely to witness 0 or -1 degree temperature next week. The app reveals that locals of Jalandhar will have to face a sharp fall in temperature on coming Wednesday and Thursday (18th and 19th January) where the temperature is likely to drop to 0 or-1 degree Celsius from 4 am to 5 am. The app, for now, shows this forecast and can change depending on the change in weather conditions of the city.
The Indian Metrological Department on Sunday forecasted that cold wave has gripped the northern as well as north-western part of India. Weather department said that this will happen owing to an oncoming western disturbance that will affect the weather in states of Punjab and Haryana in the coming week. A red alert has also been issued for dense fog in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
