In a significant breakthrough against the incidents of theft and robbery, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police arrested four individuals involved in multiple snatching and robbery cases. Acting on routine patrol near Balton Park, the Crime Branch Team intercepted two unregistered Activa scooters carrying the suspects.
Divulging more, Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma said that upon investigation, the police have recovered stolen items from these snatchers including four mobile phones, a laptop, and the two scooters. The arrested individuals were identified as Munish Kumar alias Monu, Ajay Kumar, Ravi Kumar alias Ravi, and Nitish Kumar alias Nitish. Preliminary investigation revealed their involvement in snatching activities targeting the citizens.
Notably, Ravi Kumar has a history of criminal activity, with two prior cases registered against him.
F.I.R No. 158 was lodged on December 29, 2024, at Police Station Division No. 1, under sections 303(2), 317(2), and 3(5) of the BNS Act.
Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma reaffirmed the department’s commitment to public safety, stating, “This arrest sends a strong message that criminal activities will not be tolerated in Jalandhar. We are intensifying efforts to ensure law and order and will take all necessary measures to protect our citizens.”
This operation underscores the vigilance and dedication of the Jalandhar Police in maintaining peace and security in the city, promising further action to curb crime against society, he added.
